Lately I have felt like I've been hit by a car. I am physically and mentally exhausted ALL THE TIME. I think work has been stressing me out a bit so I haven't been sleeping very well. And I'm having bizarre dreams like last night's dream about pirates. Don't ask. The lack of sleep has been taking a toll on my brain and body and I feel like I've had a migraine for the last week. Oy!
Enough complaining. So how was my weekend, you ask? Okay, you didn't but I'm sure you're dying to know. Friday was the home appraisal. We're currently trying to refinance our house to consolidate wedding debt and so that we can start putting money into the home with some improvements. The appraiser came by and she was quite a Chatty Cathy. I learned that her daughter has been married for 4 years and already has 3 kids but that the first kid was born out of wedlock. And her daughter is only 22. Wow. Her son let the love of his life go and now she's engaged to another dude. And the ex lives in the appraiser's basement. Wow again.
I wasn't sure how the appraisal was going because I've never actually sat around while someone was assessing the value of my home. I felt like I had to explain some of the misc. crap laying around the house (like a wedding dress... that I need to get cleaned. Although I'm secretly holding out because I *really* want to do a Trash the Dress photo session. One of my colleagues is a wedding photographer and I'm going to try to convince him to do this and let me be his test subject... okay, but I digress...). I asked her at the end of her appraisal what she would suggest to increase the value of our home. I was expecting a few minor things but good gravy... she gave me a laundry list. Well, it wasn't THAT bad but I guess I didn't expect to hear "add a half bathroom". Yikes!
After the appraisal, we met up with Ben and his gf for dinner at a sushi/thai restaurant. This was my first visit to this place after I decided to go hardcore vegetarian. I figured it wouldn't be THAT difficult to find a vegetarian dish because Asians usually have lots of vegetables in their dishes. Holy hell, I was wrong. I ended up getting Eda Mame (delish), vegetable tempura (I'm not really into fried vegetables but there wasn't much to choose from) and the most godawful "vegetarian sushi assortment". I nearly broke a took on a carrot wrapped in seaweed. So gross. I don't recommend it.
Saturday morning, The Mr. and I ran in a 5k benefitting the American Cancer Society. I haven't run outside in quite some time nor have I run on a hill. Needless to say, it was a pitiful run. I stopped and chatted with a few of the walkers along the way. The Mr. finished the race in under 24 minutes. I crossed the finish line at 31 minutes. Wow. Pathetic. But at least I wasn't last! After the race, the Mr. and I both felt like crap and we took a loooong nap.
That night we met up with Rob and Jenny where The Mr. proceeded to make Jenny cry over her smoking habit. Earlier that day, The Mr. blew Gerard's cover about applying for a new job outside of our group in front of another coworker. The Mr. was batting 1000 on Saturday! I found it hilarious.
Sunday we helped Kristin get new curtains for her house and unpack a few things. The Mr. asked Jackson a bunch of questions about laying down hardwood floors and now he thinks that we'll do that before the end of the month. The best part? I don't have to help!
The Mr. and I don't really fight. I know its hard to believe especially since it seems I'm kind of mean to him in this blog but I only am because he reads it and I like to poke fun at him. Anywho - we don't fight... unless we're doing home improvements. So, The Mr. said that when its time to lay down the hardwood floors, I need to leave the house. Whoo hoo! I get to leave, maybe even hang out at a pool or something and then come home to new floors. Awesome.
*No photos AGAIN! Maybe I'll post some later. I'm typing this at someone else's computer and I don't want to save any personal pictures to their computer.*
