Office Space

The Mr. and I closed on our refinance last night. Whoo hoo! No more drowning in wedding debt. And hooray for being able to do stuff to our house! The Mr. e-mailed me a list of things he wants to do to the house and I'm happy to say that we're on the same page (although adding a Playstation 3 didn't seem as though it would add value to our property... call me crazy).

I'm still waiting on our home insurance company to send a check for the wedding band because, as lame as this sounds, I feel sort of naked without it. And I'm feeling uber irresponsible because everyone wants to see it now (especially now that my last name has FINALLY been updated at work) and its kind of embarrassing to say, "oh yeah, um... I totally lost it a few weeks ago." Everyone gives me the same look of horror.

Speaking of horrible looks... because of the new name, I finally got a chance to update my badge picture at work. You know when I need to get my picture taken for an ID because I primp much longer and my hair is always down. Its a big deal for me because I have to live with this picture. When I changed my name on my license, I opted for the name change card because I love my picture so much and didn't want to risk losing it. Ha! Well - I primped and put on my Sunday best for my new badge picture and I look like a vampire. The security guy said to me, "This isn't glamour shots." Haha. And strangely, I'm in the SAME exact pose.

Anywho - Nanette asked to see a picture of everyone's work space. As organized and crazy as I am at home, my desk does not reflect that part of my personality at all. So low and behold, my cube (along with super descriptive comments). You can click the picture to enlarge it. Bear in mind that these were taken with my cell phone and I apparently can't sit still (hence the blurriness):

Let's see... where do I begin with the description? I'll try to keep it simple. I hang a lot of random things around my cube because they make me laugh. There are 4 pages from people's desk calendars hanging up that I've received through interoffice mail. The 2 to the left are from Ben's word of the day calendar. The words he sent were for "Whimsical" and "Antic". Whimsical is sort of a joke with us... its a fantastic descriptive word, don't you think? Antic was because the definition was "whimsically gay". Awesome.
The other 2 pages are from Michael's calendar from a couple of years ago. His mom gave him some calendar that was supposed to have "inspirational" sayings (it made him laugh). Here is what they say:
We are all succulent wild people!
The feeling of prosperity begins with ourselves. The more full and replenished we are, the more we can extend to the world. We are gentle, needy, soft, sensitive little buttons.
I try to use both phrases as often as possible.
Notice all the loose paper, notebooks, tissues, crap...

The Oscar trophy is for "Best Wife" courtesy of Mital. And there's my hearty breakfast of oatmeal with raisins and a banana. My favorite parts of this picture are the wall calendar and Pearl. The wall calendar was a gift from Eric and its Mr. Winkle. I have a soft spot in my heart for animals dressed up in cute clothing. Mr. Winkle melts my cold cold heart! Check him out. Pearl was a gift from Matt. Pearl is the little octopus from Finding Nemo that would squirt/fart when she was scared. I have a lot in common with Pearl. Next to the Mr. Winkle calendar is a map of Europe. This was a joke with The Mr. because I thought Amsterdam was in Denmark. Apparently its not. Who knew? Oh, that's right... EVERYONE but me.

This is my photo wall. I recently updated it with some new pics from the wedding, honeymoon and nights out within the last 2 years. Oh and there's a little photo of a bunny with a pancake on its head. Btw - have you noticed all the yellow sticky notes everywhere? While I was away on my honeymoon, my office buddies decided to fill my cube with sticky notes. They labeled EVERYTHING. While I did manage to take most of it down, it was too daunting to take everything down.

This is my white board. I never really use it. I'll explain what's written on there though. First - I put the names of my dogs on there. This was a joke with my group. We do "diversions" at the beginning of our staff meetings and last year nobody could answer any questions from my pop culture quiz so I said that the winner would be whoever could tell me the names of my dogs. Only 1 person could do it despite the fact that I talk about my dogs way more than anyone should talk about their dogs. The next tidbit was my little message saying that I was going to be out of the office for 3 weeks with my cutesy little bride and groom. I came back to a picture of a pregnant stick figure with a note about how I'll look 9 1/2 months after the honeymoon. Oh and there were some suggestions for baby names.

Very nice! I like your plant! I need to add one to my space. The pics wall is cute, too! Your co-workers sound hilarious. :)
