America's Spanish Cousin

We're here... in lovely, hot and humid Puerto Rico! It only took a 4 hour flight at the ass crack of dawn, followed by another (what felt like) an hour trying to get our car rental info straightened out, getting lost... and then walking around the hotel and taking some weird light rail type thing... oy. We're here.

First, I was so dedicated to posting everyday for a month that I lugged a laptap (thanks, Ryan!) down here so that I could take advantage of what was posted as "free" wireless internet. However, upon signing in... it looks like there is a $15 daily service charge for internet. Say what? Sadly, I might resort to sending a text message post (I'll look up how to e-mail a blog post, Nanette!) because this is ridiculous!

I'm not going to lie... I was a little sketched out by the scenery but this place reminds me of Punta Cana. The resorts are ridiculously over the top while the rest of the place... not so much. This isn't a dig at the country, but lets just say we witnessed a lot of citizens simply throwing large amounts of trash out of the vehicles as they were driving down the highway.

This hotel (El Conquistador) is beautiful. We were sort of in awe as we drove up the long driveway. I even made friends with a restaurant owner. She was wearing MY favorite Blondie t-shirt and I commented on it. It turns out that she and her hubby moved for NYC to PR and opened a restaurant. Exciting.

Anywho, let me just cut to the chase. We booked an "oceanfront room". Luis, our bellman, opened the door to our room and showed us the cutest little decor:

Cute, right? I like the yellow and white. And the modular furniture. And cute padded headboard. But see, this is an oceanfront room. Wanna see our ocean front view?

Jealous? These pools better be amazing! Alright, I'm off to eat and do something that I don't normally do on vacation. Socialize with others!
