Movies...?

Because I'm tired of complaining about school and my no-good teammates (although if you talk to me daily, you'll still hear me verbalize my annoyances), I'm switching the topic to something that makes me happy. Movies.

The Mr. and I don't really go out to the movies much because (1) we're Netflix junkies (I've been a devoted member for 3 years! Netflix, I think that warrants something, don't you? I never switched to Blockbuster. I stay faithfully by your side) and (2) its frickin' expensive.

I think the last movie we saw in the theater was Knocked Up? Or maybe it was when The Mr. saw Harry Pooter and I saw Ratatouille. Or perhaps it was when I went with the girls to see No Reservations and he went to see Transformers. I don't know. Its all a little blurry.

With the holiday season around, there are a lot of movies out that I think I want to see but am not sure if its worth it. I also have this strange quirk that I'll only see movies in a theater within a month of their release date. Beyond that, I'll wait until its out on DVD. I don't know why. So here are the movies that are currently out that I want to see:

- Enchanted: I know this looks kind of dorky but I love this kind of stuff. Is it really theater worthy though?

- Fred Claus: This looks really funny to me but its gotten some bad reviews. Again - is this theater worthy?

- August Rush: Total chick flick but I really want to see this.

- American Gangster: I've read several articles about the story behind this movie and its really interesting. But this is getting close to the point where its been out too long and I'll just wait until its out on DVD.

- No Country for Old Men: this is a pretty good contender for seeing in the theater.

- Dan in Real Life: I think this has past due and will end up being a renter.

- P.S. I Love You: this isn't out yet and holy crap, the trailer makes me cry EVERY TIME I WATCH IT. This is a definite theater movie but it won't be with The Mr.

- Juno: this also isn't out yet and I think it will be hard to find in theaters but it looks interesting. And I love Jason Bateman!

- Atonement: Not out yet - and probably will end up being a renter.

- Sweeney Todd: First off, I love Tim Burton movies (except for Planet of the Apes... oy, that was awful). And secondly, I LOVE musicals! Love them. And this is a story about a man who bakes men into meat pies. Hello?! I don't think I need to explain this much further.

Have any of you seen the movies I listed above? Any good? Any recommendations for other movies?

I too am not a huge going-to-the-movies person - I typically watch them on Netflix. Not sure about any of those movies except I think Enchanted looks very cute!

I liked American Gangster and Dan In Real Life. I want to see August Rush. Looking forward to Juno, PS I Love You, Atonement and Sweeney Todd. Hubby saw No Country for Old Men and really liked it.

I saw Sweeney Todd at Center Stage and it was AWESOME! Easily one of the 5 best plays I've ever seen - and I had a membership there for about 5 years.

I dont know when it comes out, but i want to see that Jesse James movie. Because I can't help but love Brad Pitt, and I've recently developed a mini-crush on Casey Affleck.

Hello Mrs. Twink :) Thank you so much for your sweet encouragement! Man, there IS so much stuff involved with photography...I am just a baby!

That's awesome that you and your husband are both into it. I just got married (I'm asian and got married to a white boy too!) and while my husband is so, so supportive, he would never volunteer to be a second shooter. You guys should just go for it. I'm still working full-time and doing business on the side. What's to lose?

I saw some of your picture on this blog. Do you have a site that features your work? I'd looove to see :)

P.S. Haven't seen it, but heard "No Country For Old Men" was really unsatisfying. Also, I read the book "P.S. I Love You" and didn't know it was coming out! YOU WILL CRY YOUR EYES OUT. At least I did last summer while reading the book :)

i very much want to see 'sweeney todd'! i love tim burton flicks--in total agreement on your assessment of 'planet of the apes,' however--and i totally <3 johnny depp. he's so grungy hot it hurts.

not sure i'm familiar with much of the other moves out, except 'enchanted' and 'fred claus' ... both are renters, in my book, definitely not theater calibur. i haven't seen any trailers for 'p.s. i love you' but now i want to. i love a good movie cry. i'll go with you if you want and we can cry together.

JUNO was awesome. i am going to see it again! I heard Fred Claus was terrible and that made me sad. Sweeney Todd was the bloodiest movie I've ever seen. but obviously with Johnny + Tim = Awesome!
