Green Travel Mug

So much has happened over the last couple of days that I don't even know what to talk about! Each event could be its own topic and my brain is still waking up (it seems that my tolerance for coffee has increased... the caffeine still hasn't really kicked in!).

What will I talk about today? Hhmm... first, I just want to give a quick shout out about Avenue Q. Seriously - if you haven't seen it and you enjoy a good puppet show laced with adult humor, SEE IT. I wasn't expecting nearly as much as I saw (puppets... HAVING SEX! PUPPET SEX! that's right - PUPPET SEX!). To give you an idea of how awesomely crazy this musical was, here is a snippet of their complete song list (I'm only mentioning some of my favorites):

- What Do You Do with a B.A. in English?
- If You Were Gay
- Everyone's A Little Bit Racist
- The Internet Is For Porn
- You Can Be as Loud as the Hell You Want (When You're Makin' Love)
- My Girlfriend, Who Lives in Canada
- The More You Ruv Someone

And secondly, I received an e-mail from the dachshund rescue foster mom who we adopted our dogs from and it led me to this site (its their official site). As much as the local foster mom pissed me off (if you recall, we were denied because of the possibility of 'having children' even though we're not even thinking about THAT part of our life yet) - I still completely support this organization and all rescue organizations. So... if you feel compelled to give a little, please do so!

And speaking of dogs and my insane love of animals, when we were sitting in the waiting room of the hospital - The Mr picked up a hunting magazine. Have you guys ever looked in one of those? holy crap! There were a TON of ads geared towards family bonding. Nothing bonds a family like shooting an innocent animal! Awful. And then there was a reader submission section where people sent in pictures with their "kills" and there was an 11 YEAR OLD GIRL holding a dead deer in her lap! What is wrong with people?

AND (!!) someone, knowing that I'm insane about animals, told me a story about how they KICKED THEIR DOG DOWN THE STAIRS because it peed in their bed. What?! Its a dog! Perhaps if you were a RESPONSIBLE dog owner, it wouldn't have so many accidents in the house. I mean, our dogs have made us mad when they have accidents, but I don't ever physically hurt them. Maybe I raise my voice... actually, I don't even do that! They're DOGS. That's what they do! Yarg!

Sometimes I feel like my brain is going to implode.

I feel like I know who you're talking about. I do not condone nor associate happily with people who hurt their animals. What, what a big man/woman you are for hurting someone who depends on you solely for their survival and is a freakin' animal. I think it takes a real sociopath to hurt an animal like that and frankly it makes me sick to hear about about it.

We got Ian's parents tickets to Avenue Q for Christmas. After seeing it - we couldn't resist (although I'm slightly sad that we won't be going with them to it - I would love to see it again!).

unfortunately, even animal control can't do anything about animal cruelty unless there are physical signs of abuse. they can't really act on heresay other than to check out the situation and issue a citation but even that can't be enforced if there's no proof.
our cat has been shitting all over the house but we don't throw her against the wall, you deal with it and try to figure out why the animal is doing it to begin with and fix it.
makes you wonder what kind of parents those people would be, i hope their kid never wets the bed...

The family that bow-hunts together stays together. It's science.

Glad to hear your pop's doing okay, too.

I LOVE the What do you do with a BA in English song from Avenue Q!

The kicking the dog down the stairs part pissed me off. Really, people? No alternative to kicking your dog down the stairs? Sure.

What's wrong with killing deer? They're everywhere!!!! They eat everything in my yard. They intentionally jump out in front of moving cars. They do vast amounts of damage to your car when you hit them. They are CRAZY! Deer are not endangered. It's not like people are out there hunting spotted owls.

But I agree with your other point - don't kick the damn dog. Make it eat Brussel sprouts as punishment. That's what my mom made me do when I pissed in her bed.

I hate hearing stories about how pet owners abuse their pets. Unfortunately, volunteering at BARCS, we deal with the dogs that have been abused and removed from the homes. It takes a very weak person to take their inability to handle their own inadequacies out on a animal.
