I had never heard of a Steve and Barry's before. I figured that it was store nowhere near me and was only in NYC (much like H&M was until they mysteriously blew up and are now EVERYWHERE). I was talking to a co-worker a few weeks ago and she mentioned that she purchased a Bitten handbag. I figured she went to NYC. She said there was one right by me!! You can imagine my delight because I totally heart SJP and love to shop.
Unfortunately, the closest store (there are only 2 in Maryland) is in what I call the "no man's land" shopping mall. I try not to look at it when I accompany The Mr. to get the oil changed in his car for I fear that I'll turn into stone (or that we'll turn into Kevin Federline and Britney Spears... wifebeaters, Cheetos and all).
Well, I hate shopping with The Mr. He kills my shopping mojo (probably on purpose since the money should probably go towards paying our home taxes or something). But since Theresa has moved down the street, she came with me. And just a note - Theresa and I are shopping soulmates. Her living within 5 miles of me is going to be very dangerous to my wallet.
Anywho - we ventured to Steve & Barry's (an overall frightening store of hodge podge clothing intended for 12 year old) but were impressed with the Bitten collection. I ended up purchasing the following items (I tried to find pictures but they're not on the website):
- Seersucker Shorts $15
- White Polo $8
- Denim Capris $15
- Cropped Black Jacket $15
- Brown Linen Blazer/Shirt thingamabob $20
Not bad, eh? I also bought 2 bras that fit horribly and have to return them. So I'll give kudos to SJP for cute clothes but she gets no love for the bras and shoes (how WIDE are SJP's feet, I wonder).
Anywho - The Mr. and Marshall worked on the kitchen some more and made some good progress. The new sink base cabinet is in place and the dishwasher and end piece are setup. We also had the pleasure of discovering that the previous homeowners did a crappy job of leveling the cabinets... BECAUSE THE CABINETS AREN'T LEVEL. Oh the joys of home renovation.
Anywho - here's where we are today (sorry for the poor quality - it was taken with my phone):
I'm very frightened about the new cabinet being a shade LIGHTER than the rest of them. The Mr. wants to wait to see how the countertops, new tile floor and tiled backsplash will look... as though it will darken the new cabinets.
Tomorrow the countertop people are coming by to measure out the template. I got stuck having to stay home and wait because I guess its unfair to make my husband burn through all of his time off. I'll have to overcome my fear of answering the door when I'm home alone. I live in Baltimore. Its been ranked one of the 10 worst cities in America (in terms of crime). And hello? I'm cute as a button. Who wouldn't want to rape and murder me?
If I don't post anything tomorrow after 11am... CALL THE POLICE!

OMG...what is SJP thinking?!!
Ok, I get the whole fashion should be affordable thing, but it also has NO PLACE anywhere NEAR Dundalk!! I'm sorry, but that's just the way it is. SJP needs to think about how it's going to look if half the people wearing her stuff are missing teeth. Oh...and coming soon...to Glen Burnie Yay!! :)
Seriously, some of he stuff looks kinda cute and it sounds like a super bargain. Kudos to SJP!!
The renovations look like they're moving right along. The Mr and Marshall are so handy...it's nice to have men like that around. Judging from the pic (and I know it's poor quality) the color difference isn't too noticable...I think you'll be fine. Just remember, now you have a dishwasher!!
first: i love SJP ... love her.
second: seems like you got some great deals on her clothes. very nice ... very, very nice.
third: ok, i really hate to be the bearer of bad news, but i have to disagree with jamie. i think the color difference is quite noticeable ... it could just be that those are the only cabinets not covered in your cooking ... i don't know. it could very well be the poor camera quality too, i don't know, but that's the first thing i noticed when i looked at the picture. i'm sorry to have to say it, but i just don't wanna try and placate you ... you deserve the truth, dammit! if this post makes you unhappy let me know and i will remove it and post something lighthearted and joyous and a complete LIE!
otherwise, the renovations are moving very swiftly.
girl, you better email us in lesbian-bulk fashion after 11 ... if not, you better believe i'll be on the phone with 9-1-1.
