Geoff and I were talking about this recently since we're huge blogging nerds... but we love comments! LEAVE MORE. I thrive off of feedback. Anywho - yesterday's post warranted the most comments I've had in awhile and I thank you all.
Carrie promptly reminded me that she had the worst in-law situation BY FAR and I have to agree. Her ex mother-in-law was so crazy that I didn't even get along with her and I was just a supporting cast member. Sheesh.
I remember when Carrie first started dating her now ex and his mom was awesome. So sweet. So nice. But somewhere between the first 2 weeks of Carrie and her ex dating and their marriage - she went nuts.
Carrie and her ex had a civil ceremony at the courthouse. They didn't want a big ceremony (they had a reception later) and there were only to be 2 witnesses (me and her ex's creepy brother). So Carrie's parents didn't go because she insisted that it wasn't a big deal. But the ex's parents went... and made the decision the day of (so Carrie's parents couldn't get out of work and go). Anywho - I met them at the courthouse, witnessed the wedding and when it was time to go - it was pouring rain. My car was parked kind of far but her ex's parents offered to give me a lift to my car (so I wouldn't be a bother to Carrie and their son). The crappy part? After I got in the car - his mom's attitude completely changed and the bitch dropped me off on the next corner NOWHERE NEAR MY CAR! What?!
Me and this lady also got into it over gay/lesbian rights. I swear this woman is a closet lesbo (she looks like a dude) but we were watching the Rosie O'Donnell show and she made a comment about how disgusting she finds it that Rosie is gay. Or whatever. And then she made some crappy comment about Gay Pride parades and how she finds them incredibly offensive because they're "rubbing it in everyone's face". What?! I went off and said that I'm sure that homosexuals don't enjoy the billboards and media portraying heterosexual love... and that they're stuck dealing with straights "rubbing it in everyone's face". Needless to say - she stopped speaking to me.
There were many other crappy moments but those were the highlights for me. Now that Carrie and her ex are no longer married, his mother is as nice as can be. I'm not saying that this is a solution for me because I'd like to stay married to The Mr. but what is it about mother's of boys that makes them so crazy? The biggest issue with Carrie's ex mother-in-law was that she was resentful that Carrie was so close to her parents. The ex MIL wanted to be the one she always turned to. So weird.
Anywho... last night our countertops were installed! I weight has been lifted off my shoulders although I'm still a huge ball of stress from work and life. And since I've been a bad blogger and haven't uploaded any pics, I'm not going to talk about the weekend until tomorrow. Sorry Jamie!
And sorry for the lack of pictures lately!

I've been a bad blogger! I hardly ever BLOG anymore and when I do I rarely have pics :(
Wow!! Carrie's ex-MIL seems kinda crazy. I think Moms must feel a little threatened when their little boys find "another" woman to spend their lives with. It's a shame that some MILs take things too far. I think it's natural to feel a little protective and maybe a little threatened, but a rational person is secure enough not to get crazy about it.
BTW- I agree with Carrie's ex-MIL...it makes me sick that Rosie is gay! She's a horrible "role model/spokesperson" for the gay community
i felt much the same as you do about rosie ... i was never a huge fan of her, except her old standup or her time as a v-jay on mtv. however ... after seeing her at the 'true colors tour' on july 17th, i've found a new respect for her. she's very outspoken when it comes to gay rights and a big--no pun intended--advocate ... she was actually very funny and did not disgust me as she did in the past. she's still not my favorite comedienne-turned-lesbian, however, i do like her significantly more than i did before july 17th.
