I am so tired and sore that I cannot possibly be bothered to write one cohesive post. So you're getting bullet points of the highlight and lowlights of the extended holiday weekend. Enjoy!
Lowlights:
The Mr. and I spent Friday night ripping up the carpet. And ripping out the tile in the entrance way. I'm surprised that I didn't choke to death on the bits of carpet flying around.
We discovered a few of P & E's favorite pee spots. No wonder our house always had a strange smell to it. We always blamed the neighbors. P & E had been pissing in the little crevice between the couch and the oversized chair. Sneaky bastards!
We didn't really get any chance to relax or go out because we worked on the house from 8am Saturday morning until 7pm Monday night. Jealous? Don't be. My entire body aches and I have paint in my hair.
My dad informed me that the aneurysm in his heart is dilated to some ridiculous number that's only 1 notch below fatal. Awesome, right? He also casually mentioned that the surgeon said he can't put a stint in because of where the aneurysm is located. The other option the surgeon suggested was to reroute my dad's arteries. This would cause him to be in the hospital for 3 weeks. My dad's cardiologist said he wouldn't survive having his chest cracked open. Awesome awesome awesome. He's going for a second opinion and ended with this note, "Don't worry, honey. I have no intention of dying. They said I only have about a 30% chance of dying. The odds look good." Awesome.
I watched "Wild Hogs".
Highlights:
We finished another home improvement project! We put down hardwood floors this weekend in our living/dining room. If you're familiar with Baltimore City rowhomes, you know that these rooms are generally just one large room.
The floors are bamboo (yay for being environmentally friendly) and look fabulous. I didn't upload pictures yet but will this week because I am so proud of us. Actually - I didn't lay any hardwood floors because Zach and Travis helped out so they didn't need me.
Zach and I took a trip to the city dump to get rid of the carpet. Again, I'm surprised that I didn't asphyxiate on the carpet funk in my car. What should have only taken 20 minutes ended up taking about an hour because we couldn't find the freaking dump! We drove around and around and around. I was tempted to throw the shit away in some dump outside of a store and Zach kept stating that he was hoping not to get ass raped by the citizens of the neighborhood where we did NOT belong. I learned that we had passed the dump several times because it didn't look like a dump. According to Zach it was, "just a staging area where people get stuff sanded". What? Why did I believe this? It makes no sense and The Mr. is STILL laughing at me about it.
We finally painted the living/dining room to a color we both love. We originally went with a neutral beige color that seemed a little pink-y. After laying down the floors, it definitely looked pink so we changed it to a more grey-ish neutral color and now with the floors - our house looks way more modern. AND we didn't half-ass it like we did the first go round. No more splotches on the ceiling or on the trim.
Our dogs got along with Boogie AND Sophie. Holy crap! They ARE capable of making friends with other dogs (they just have to be of the same breed or the same size).
Finally got another pedicure and I didn't f it up like the last 2. Whoo hoo!
How was everyone else's weekend?

And the little man at the dump said...
"Bring us your dressers, your chairs, all ove your wood wares. Place them here to be staged, whatever that means. They will then be sanded here at the dump... Cause that is what we do"
sorry to hear that about your father. i'm sure everything will be ok. doctor's generally like to give worst-case scenerios that way when everything is ok, you're more grateful and think that they're uber-doctors for having been able to overcome such great odds. all will be well, honey.
canNOT wait to see the new floors! do you just LOVE the tick-tick-tick-tick-tick sound when P & E run across the floor? like wearing little doggie tap-shoes. fun!
miss you, babe!
I'm sorry to hear about your Dad -- I hope everything works out okay with him.
You two are doing so much work to your house! That's awesome! Can't wait to see the final results of everything.
wild hogs? what were you thinking???
also, i am sorry to hear about your dad's news. that is incredibly stressful. when my dad was diagnosed with lung cancer, i just kept believing that he was superman, and had been incognito all this time as a dad. seriously, though, all you can do is think positively. there is power in that. try not to let the diseased thoughts creep in (which is really hard). it will ease your mind, his mind, and keep you from panicking. instead, every time you start to think bad stuff, imagine busting up the icky stuff and making him healthy. i will be thinking of him (and you).
