My neck, my back...

The moment you've all been waiting for... Pictures of our floors! Actually, I should post pictures of my bruised body but I won't subject you to that.

Before:
I didn't realize just how badly stained our carpets were until we moved all of the furniture out of the room. Good gravy. That's nasty.

This was the crappy ceramic tile we had in the entranceway. It really didn't bother me like it bothered The Mr. but I didn't like how far up it came into the room.

Look at what our dogs did!! That's the problem with berber carpet. If you pull on loop out, you end up taking out an entire row. Our dogs pulled the carpet up FROM THE KITCHEN. We had to buy an awful carpet runner to cover it.

Starting the Project:
The Mr. starting to pull up our crappy carpet. We were secretly hoping for fancy hardwood floors underneath but had no such luck.

The Mr. ripping out the tile.

E was a little scared of all the demo happening so she ran into the kitchen and hid between the oversized chair and sofa in the kitchen.

P wasn't scared! Okay, just a little but he wanted reassurance from us. The best part of this was he didn't like sitting on the sub-floor so he would sit on scraps of carpet. So cute.

One of a bajillion staples I had to pull out of the subfloor. During our home renovation projects, we've learned that the contractor who did the original work was a fan of gluing things down and stapling things.

See all the weird little dots? That's the amount of fuzz that was floating around from the carpet.

All gone!

Our original wall paint color. This picture really doesn't do it justice. While I didn't loathe it, it was a little too beige-y. The floors made it look pinkish.

Halfway through:
The Mr. suggested that we paint the walls at this time while all the furniture is out of the room (so we wouldn't have to move things twice). So we primed the walls. Correction - I primed the walls.

The tools we had to rent from Home Depot that scared the crap out of P & E:

One of the hardest parts of the floor. Ask The Mr. about it - he'll tell you.

The Mr. pooped after Day 1.

After:
The new wall color. You probably can't even see a difference, huh? Its more grey-ish. We felt it totally updated our room.

P kept wanting to play when I was painting. At one point I was telling him to back away and he backed into the wall. That's paint on his tail and hind legs.

Whoo hoo! All the furniture is in place.

What do you think? We still need to lay the tile in the entranceway and update the electrical plates and get curtains... and an area rug but good gravy, it feels good to be done.

wow, your house is looking AMAZING! all your hard work is paying off. i can tell the difference in paint color. at least you stayed in the same family--william and i painted our living room wall lime green, then changed it to magenta. :)
