The Twirling Twinkie

I bet you didn't know that I used to travel with a circus! Okay, I didn't really but I should have and after yesterday's trapeze class, I plan on telling any potential future offspring that "mommy" was in the circus.

Picture post time!

Getting fitted with the safety belt. Holy crap it was tight... and combined with the hot weather, I was left with a sweat belt around my shirt after class. Hot stuff.

When it was time to go, nobody would step up and go first! So I did... and I can't describe to you how bad I was shaking climbing up that ladder. The Mr. noted that he couldn't believe I didn't freak out more because I freak out on the 10 ft. ladder at home.

Before I got to this point, the instructor at the top had me do some calming breaths. He could tell I was nervous. The hardest part for me at this point was letting go and trusting that the guy was holding me. I was SO nervous!

After jumping (it took a few prompts for me to actually take the plunge), I felt so amazing. It was so freeing and fun flying through the air.

And this is exactly how I felt after I got down. I was shaking more on the ground from the adrenaline than I was when I was flying through the air!

Theresa had a great time as well. She was also freaking out and I felt kind of bad for her because she had to lean out on the platform much further than me because she's so small.

And... here is me getting caught by the world's strongest woman. After perfecting the "knee hang to a back flip" trick, we were able to try the knee hang to a catch. I was worried this woman wouldn't be able to support my weight until I watched her climb up a rope effortlessly to get to the bar.

Tada! Theresa and I will be taking our acts on the road soon. I'd like to thank Gerard for giving me a great circus name: The Twirling Twinkie.

And now for some video footage!
Trick 1. That last flip in the net really f'ed up my neck...

Trick 2. This was my first run with getting caught so I kind of freaked out and popped out of my knee hang too early and hit my hands on the platform. Ouch! Actually - I didn't even feel it. I was too busy thinking, "Aaah... why am I looking upside down at the instructor's feet?? This is wrong... aaah!!!"

How was everyone else's weekend?

Look at you and Theresa! You're both ready to join Ringling Bros. :)

Think of it, now you have something to fall back on if you ever get bored with your current profession!

Hey Hillary! I always welcome a new reader. And wow - that is SO random!

I hope I didn't come off as not liking either Rob or Jenny? Its quite the opposite. I think after getting married you have a different perspective on the whole wedding planning process. I just don't get that whole "bridezilla" mentality.

Plus - I've become the etiquette nazi. Well, not really - but I'm very adamant about showing gratitude and writing thank you cards now!

Oh my gosh you totally didn't. And I hear you about the thank you cards. It's a must and it really doesn't take that long. Also, the bridezilla thing is weird. I was so laissez-faire about the wedding. I basically let my mom do the whole thing. I was a really bad bride.

Anyway, I really do enjoy your blog and i look forward to meeting you (in less than a month).
