Under Construction

Alright - today's post is dedicated to the resort, El Conquistador, we were lucky to stay in for Rob's wedding.

What can I say about this resort? It was very pretty although it seemed that half of it was under construction the entire time we were there. The bellhop took us to our "ocean front" view of 5 porta pots and construction. Whoo!

We were woken up in the mornings not by the magical sound of the ocean, but of the construction taking place. And about 2 days after checking in, a small family checked into the room next door so we had the pleasure of a crying baby all night. Very relaxing.

And, I'm trying to squeeze in as much as possible in this post about the resort but its taking way too long to upload pictures so I'm going to highlight some things:

- There was a $15 daily charge for using their WIFI connection!
- They charged $20 for the bellhop
- Dinner at the Italian eatery cost $70 for a plate of spaghetti and chicken parm (with no pasta!) and a beer.
- Dinner at the Hibachi cost $90 for a vegetarian plate and a chicken plate with 2 beers
- Don't get me started on breakfast... and the beefcake waiters
- Starbucks, we realized late in the trip, had the most reasonably priced items
- There were wet paint signs everywhere!

Okay, that's it. All in all it was nice but I'm still complaining in my survey. that'll show 'em. I'm giving them a negative rating! Burn!

I didnt get a survey!! but I can tell you, I'm going to get a nice little letter out to them. It's like... hold up, what am I paying for with that rate? What is included in that if everythign else is so damn expensive?

I'm still lubing up from the weekend long ass raping we got.

but I mean, it was pretty.

I kept reminiscing about my time in the Bahamas and in the West Indies as I'm reading about these tropical locales, but all I could really think was El Conquistador sounds like a Mexican gay porn movie.

Just a thought.

ohhh, you should see what i wrote in my survey. it was like "i hate you you stupid place, give me my money back!!! we got paint all over us!!!" let's see if that tactic works.

So my dad complaied about the noise and stuff when he was checking out yesterday. This is what he said they said:

"They said the wedding group contract specified that some guests would be staying in a construction area w/noise, and that Cindy/Larry were advised of it when they made the deal. Said I would have to take it up with the catering mgr."

ARGH!

that sucks that you had to deal with construction noise. although, to wake up to that is amazing! and the porta potties??! i mean, what more could a person ask for?? i bet the smell was wonderful!

and i have to agree ... it does sound like a mexican porno. ay dios mio.

ok, what kind of chicken parm doesn't come with pasta! that's retarded!

ok now, after reading the comments, I'm going to take back all my "I want to make sure they (the married people) know that we're not complaining about their choices, they didn't MAKE us stay near construction and covered in paint)...

because.. oh! hold up! wait! they did. Thanks cindy and larry!

Oh I don't want to indict Cindy and Larry. I'm not sure how much they knew about the construction. The block they had originally chosen for the wedding folk was closed for construction right before the wedding so I think they had to figure out the best way to fit everyone in.

I think it was up to the hotel management to alert guests to the construction. It's so sneaky and just really bad business.

El Conquistador is one of the most overated hotels on the island. If you ever set foot in PR again, let me know and I can give you some tips. The best food on the island can be found at hole in the wall places and wouldn't cost you 70!
