Shopping Madness

So a reader, albeit an anonymous reader, has pointed me in the direction of some very very cute, and not terribly expensive, vegan handbags. And now I'm hooked! The company is called Matt & Nat and I'm starting to go a little nuts with the handbags. I've narrowed down my choices to these (but I def. want others) for my next purchase to this (only $140) or this (also only $140).

And wow! Who knew people hated vegan fashion so much.

Okay - there are others but I'm not trying to flood this post with pictures of purses. Just click the link to their site. I really want a black bag and they don't seem to have any but I'm in love.

Also, I've been sweating TOMS shoes for awhile now. Its a great cause and they're a really cute and inexpensive product. But they seem to sell out very quickly! That's what I get for hesitating, I guess but aren't these fantastic?

They're $48! And everytime you buy a TOMS shoe, a pair are donated to a child in need.

I'm also on the prowl for a cute, reusable grocery bag. I've seen a lot of nice nylon ones like these:

The set of 5 is only $34.50! And its so cute!

Where is all this coming from? Well the vegan handbag was for being called out on my hypocrisy but the other stuff has been on the backburner for awhile. I watched an episode of Dress My Nest last night (its nice to see Thom Filicia getting work AFTER Queer Eye) and they featured a girl who needed a living room revamp but required that everything be as eco-friendly as possible.

I learned a lot of stuff in that episode like there are special paints you can buy that are eco-friendly (VOC free) and that putting a brick in your toilet tank helps conserve water. Who knew?

booo!!! hissss!!!! No one is perfect! You do all kinds of good things for damn animals, so get a good leathery cow-face bag.

Anyway, I guess those pleathery looking ones are ok. They're sort of cute, but they look like a nori roll. But like, I have PMS so I hate everything.

those cloth bags are cute though.

PS you're the only vegan type person I like.

PSPS. PMS makes me comment like a 5 year old.

I'm glad I'm the only vegan type person you like, Smack!

But I'm really not vegan... just vegan-ish. I'm just riddled with eternal guilt and since I haven't read the bible, I'm trying to make up for my sinful ways by loving animals and the planet.

And that was a super cute purse you linked.

well ... i suppose the vegan bags are very chic ... who knew? and if you get hungry, you can eat it ... because there's no meat involved!

however, if i were a chick, i'd totally get a sheep's head, hollow it out and carry all my essentials.

i honestly think cows and chickens, and whatever else animals can be used for fashion, would be appalled that they are being replaced! they should totally make a stand!

"We're here!"
"We graze!"
"We're put down and then made into fashionable accessories and meals and sometimes food byproducts ..."
"Get used to us!"

I love Envirosax! We have two sets (one we bought, one was a gift) and gave them as gives to about a dozen different people for Christmas this year because everyone could use them!

Uh Twinks...I'm sorry...I tried. I really tried...but I'm going to have to agree with Jamie on this one. I just can't support the fluggliness. While "Tom" (aka Blake Mycoskie) may be hot, his shoes are not! They are beyond hiDEYous (i.e. really hideous)and I beg that you find another way to support the hungry, shoeless children of the world.

In addition, I'm probably alone with my sentiments on the "vegan pleatherwear". I hate it! Those bags look like plastic! While the "style" is really cute, the material looks extra cheap. :-(

Twinks I can only imagine how hard this must be for you. This is a huge fashion dilemna. Can the world really afford a overpopulation in beef? Thousands of people die a day. I mean you already cut out meat. Would it be so bad if a cow or two died for your wardrobe? Whatever you decide to do, I'm sure it will be absolutely fab. Good luck!

I just bought a super cute reusable tote/grocery bag at Forever 21 for $7. It has an adorable giraffe on the front. I can't wait to take it shopping!
