Where's the Camera Guy?

Some of you may know or perhaps I've written about it in the past, but I believe that I have the WORST wedding dvd on the face of the planet.

We originally did not want to hire a videographer because it just seemed like a waste of money. I mean - were we really going to be watching this thing more than once? My mom really wanted us to hire a guy but we refused since most were over $1k and honestly, I wanted to spend that money on hair & makeup (and yes, it cost nearly $1k for 4 girls to get their hair and makeup done).

Our photographer called us about a month before the wedding and said that a wedding had cancelled with their videographer and that if we were interested, they'd give us a good deal. Once you get THAT close to your wedding, you kind of stop paying attention to costs and whatnot so we said sure.

Holy hell, that camera guy was beyond intrusive. He didn't seem to speak much English and spent the majority of the time holding his camera ridiculously close to people. At one point, I was eating some food in my hotel room as I was getting ready and he walked over with his camera and held it about 5 inches from my plate of food and then slowly panned up to my face where I looked like a deer in headlights. He also got so close to the makeup artist that I hired that when she turned her head, she hit the mike!

As I was going through the wedding photos, I noticed a number of them with the camera guy and it just made me laugh. Can you spot him? And yes, some of these pics are repeats of ones I've already posted.

Okay, he's not actually in this picture but his giant tripod is! Who puts a tripod in the middle of the dancefloor?

Wasn't that fun?

See this picture here?

He had asked both The Mr and I to say a message to each other before the ceremony. Apparently The Mr went on for about 10 minutes. Mine lasted under 3 and it was filled with a lot of, "um... and okay, then." The videographer wasn't getting the hint that I didn't have anything else to say. But I was pretty excited to hear what The Mr had to say.

And you know what? IT DIDN'T MAKE THE CUT! It wasn't even in the damn dvd! So my gripes with the dvd are:

- Cut out our cute little messages to each other. Sure they were probably ridiculous but that's us and I'm sad that I'll never know what The Mr said.
- Cut off Kristin's speech! The dvd completely cuts out over half of her speech. It wasn't even that long!
- Cut off my brother's speech. Sure it had a lot of f-bombs in it but it was moving and funny. I'll never get to hear it in it's entirety again and that makes me sad.
- Cut out Theresa reading the label from the Immodium AD box! That shit was hilarious.
- He had positioned another camera in the back of the room during the ceremony and the DVD awkwardly cuts between a close-up (some were EXTREME close-ups. I could see my pores, for Christ's sake!) and this crap footage from the back of the room.
- The majority of the DVD is set to the music of Celine Dion. You see him in that pic of me doing the robot? You better believe I'm doing the Robot to CELINE DION in the video. Ugh!

And I'm done griping. I can watch the video now and laugh about it but it kind of sucks that we shelled out like $800 for this guy. Oh well - my mom is happy and you can't really put a price on that. Oh wait, you can... and it was $800.

Haha! My uncle did the video from our wedding and I swear at every important part (cake cutting, speeches, first dance, etc) he gets about 2 minutes and then the camera pans to his grandson! There's even a whole 5 minutes of a pitcher of Iced tea...so I think we could start a battle over worst wedding video though I'm sure you'd win since my crappy video was free in the end... :)

Oh my god, that is so freaking hilarious! It's like playing Where's Waldo, except much easier to spot him!! Ha!

That is really funny. We ran off to get married and had a package deal. We could have added a video, but opted not to, because, like you said, who sits around watching wedding videos?

I know it would have made my MIL happy, but I really wanted our wedding to be about the moment.

Our wedding videographer was pretty good, but when we got the final cut there were some things missing that we knew he had video taped. We called him, asked him to add those things in, and he did. Perhaps you could try that. (I don't know if your guy will still have all your footage, but its worth a try!)

Spot the Videographer! What a fun game. I love how sometimes just his camera or mic shows up in a photo. Get out of the way dude!

Ha how disappointing! You should have asked for the raw footage when you saw that all the stuff was cut out... for $800 they should give you the tapes! Then at least you'd have them! Bitches, man. What a crackpot that he's in that many photos!
