Wedding Weekend

This past weekend I had the pleasure of attending Ian and Katie's wedding in DC. I took about 350 pictures and promise to post some soon. I just have to weed through them. I think out of the 350 pics I took, about 20 of them aren't blurry. Yes, I'm a great photographer.

I could go on and on and on about this wedding but figured it would just be easier to recap everything into a few bullets. I'm going to do the top 10 wedding weekend moments:

10. We sat through a 1 hour slideshow at the rehearsal dinner. I don't want to poke fun at Katie's mom because she clearly put a lot of effort into this slideshow and I know my own mother could never put together anything like it (part of that has to do with the fact that she doesn't know how to turn the computer on). I didn't realize the slideshow was going to be an hour so I quickly excused myself to the restroom before it started... but didn't quite make it to the door so I stood for the duration of the show. I don't believe the Mr and I have the same number of photos of us together than there were photos of Ian and Katie smooching! :-)

9. Katie assigned 2 of her friends to work the photo guestbook. These guys reminded me of Jonah Hill in Superbad. Hilarious. Although when one of them first approached me to take my picture, I thought they were just being creepy.

8. The Mr and I checked into the WRONG Westin when we got into DC. Seriously - what hotel chain has 2 of it's hotels on the SAME street 10 blocks apart?

7. When one of the groomsmen asked the bartender to make his drink a double, the bartender responded with, "Well then how about a tip?" Ha! I love the boldness of that guy.

6. The cake was f'n amazing. Seriously. I've never had a cake THAT frickin' good. It was chocolate with who knows... it was just delicious. So good. So so good. I hate to say this but it was better tasting than my own wedding cake. I need to find their cake vendor!

5. Ian and Katie's dogwalker managed to bring their dog, Tessa, to the church for pictures. I thought this was an incredibly nice thing for their dogwalker to do since they adore their dog. However, all I saw at first was a crazy woman in workout gear screaming, "DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE THEY'RE TAKING PICTURES?" I wasn't sure if she was trying to ruin their wedding or what. When I walked a little closer (I thought I might have to tackle her), I saw that she had Tessa. It made me wish we would have had someone bring our dogs to us for pictures!

4. The bride and groom were stunning and obviously had a ton of fun. I love when the couple is able to get down on the dance floor and party the night away. It's always sad when you see the couple having to go table to table and not really getting a chance to dance outside of their first dance. Ian and Katie hung out until the place shut down.

3. The confusion at the Catholic ceremony. It was quite clear that the majority of folks on Katie's side were Catholic and that the majority of folks on Ian's side were not. The priest didn't really direct anyone on when to stand or pray so to watch the confusion on Ian's side when it came to standing was priceless. Lucky for me I had a Catholic next to me telling me what to do. And that brings me to...

2. I got to hang out with Stacy's boyfriend, Jon. I was really worried that I wouldn't have anyone to talk to since anyone that I knew at the wedding was actually IN the wedding. Jon worked his way into my list of favorite people. Aside from being incredibly entertaining, he's got some pretty sweet dance moves. Stacy - it was great hanging out with you too! You guys need to get married.

1. The best man's speech. Alex, Ian's brother, gave a fantastic speech that I wished I had recorded or at least paid closer attention too because I'm sure I missed a ton of jokes. He opened it with, "This is the 10th time today that I've gotten up from a warm seat with a piece of paper". I didn't get it at first (and Ian's dad even said, "Give the Americans a minute to get that joke"... and at this point I should say that Ian and his family are English) but when I did, I couldn't stop laughing. He went on to say that Ian was going to handle the marriage like a soccer game: always trying to score, needing to switch positions and having to nurse a groin injury.

I promise I'll get around to posting some pictures soon!

Also, I don't get the joke...at all :) I guess that just makes me a dumb/slow American :)

Haha - don't feel bad! I only got it when The Mr explained it.

I hate weddings! They just reminds me of my pathetic social life! Ugh!

Always a bridesmaid, never the bride...

Hour long presentation...out of control...
