Does this Outfit Work?

On a whim, I purchased this cute fitted tie-neck shirt from the Gap because it was on sale. And I was drawn to the little tie thingamabob.

Here's the tie-neck shirt on the Gap models:

I'm not crazy about the bow.

Cute but would be even cuter with a sweater!

I've seen this tie thingy on other blouses and always thought it was cute (especially when paired with a v-neck sweater). So I thought, what the hell.

I didn't love the shirt by itself so on another whim, I purchased a cute navy blue button up sweater vest from J. Crew (it was on sale... I'm a sucker for a deal).

So, I put it together and am not sure how I feel about it.

Excuse the poor lighting. I'm in the women's bathroom at my office. And don't worry - nobody was in the bathroom when I snapped this pic.

Does it work? Is it too "Ellen"? Weird? I'm pairing it with jeans and some brown flats.

Random side note - when I volunteered at the Food bank yesterday, I noticed a sign they posted in their bathrooms that read:
If you sprinkle when you tinkle,
please be neat and wipe the seat!

Genius.

I think it is very cute. It is definitely something I would never be able to pull off, sadly. But it looks great on you!

I'm always intrigued by those shirts, but they would never work for my body type... On you, however, I do think the outfit is cute!!!

On a different note about bathroom signs, when I was growing up my great aunt had a cottage and I guess tried to conserve the flushing (she was OLD!) or something and the sign in her bathroom, cross-stitched of course, read "If it's yellow let it mellow, if it's brown flush it down." hahaha

I almost just died when I read Stacy's comment...My grandma lived in an old cottage-y house and that motto was known by anyone who ever used her bathroom!

I've never heard anyone else say that!
