What is That Smell?!

Conversation in my head at the gym today...
Ew - what is that smell? Man, the guy next to me stinks. (sniff sniff) Wait... I don't think its him. Is it me? (sniff under arm) No... wait, (looks at iPod armband and brings it slowly to nose) OH.MY.GOD. It IS me! (gag)

I've had my iPod nano armband since Christmas. It was actually one of the best Christmas gifts EVER. I use it A LOT. But... I have never washed it. Its neoprene! Is that a washable material? Even so - it sure is an absorbent material. Imagine a cat turd on a hot summer day. That is the smell emitting from my armband. It made me gag. MY OWN STENCH MADE ME GAG. I, of course, still wore it and it only caused my arm to smell like a cat turd on a hot summer day. I'm still self conscious about it.

I've tried to Google how to clean the iPod armband and haven't gotten many helpful links. One link said to just throw it in the wash. I'm scared it will ruin it. Help me! How do you clean it? The guy at the gym (whom I briefly accused of being the stinky one) said to Febreeze it. I think this is well past Febreeze.

Side note, here's a funny conversation I had with my parents about me and The. Mr coming down to their house after work today to help them replace some wood fencing they have around their garden (and I use the term garden very loosely here).
Me: Mom - so is today a good day to come down to help with the wood?
Mom: Oh no! Its too hot.
Me: Are you sure? The Mr. can handle it.
Mom: Nooo... your father said no, its too hot. Do you want to talk to him?
Me: Sure.
Dad: Hi honey. What's going on?
Me: Nothing. Just saying hi. Are you sure you don't want us to come down?
Dad: No - its over 90 degrees down here. Don't worry about... unless you just want to come down. You know we're always happy to see you.
Mom: [shouting in the background] Tell her she can come and cut the grass if she wants!

So... its apparently "too hot" for The Mr. to come and replace wood fencing but not "too hot" for me to cut their grass. Thanks, mom.

How much was the arm band? Maybe you can try to wash it (on a delicate cycle or maybe hand wash it with some shampoo). If it gets ruined, then replace it. And now I'm wondering if MY arm band stinks. My arm doesn't really sweat, it's mostly all in my hair. Hmm...
