For awhile I was kind of hung up on the idea of it having to be related to weddings somehow. I mean - the title of this blog is "My So-Called Wedded Life". Should it match up? With that said, I have no idea what I want to do. I thought that I'd have the background pic be of my wedding dress still hanging on the closet door in the guest room but its just not very interesting.
Anywho - since Smack asked for more pics, here are some pics I'm considering although I'm not sure how or what or even if these would work (and really... I just want to post cute pictures of my dogs). These were taken with our new 50mm lens and some are with an external flash that Doug was nice enough to give us.

Okay, now onto others.
This is me trying to be artsy fartsy. Actually, I was just trying to see how far I'd have to stretch out my arms to take a self-portrait and completely missed most of my face. Although I like it. But perhaps these are too serious?
And now my favorite.
My dogs' new Christmas toy! This picture just cracks me up.

I am OBSESSED with the picture of Petie and Emily together. It could be a calendar picture I think.
And I think the serious photos make me laugh because your blog is not very serious - you're fun and full of life and I don't think these pictures represent that.

4.5 - I say avoid any actual wedding type pictures. I like how it's your post wedding afterbirth sort of stuff. maybe you should set up a picture of you choking the mr. and somehow get the dogs in the background -- and then crop if just so it's your hands on his throat and yeah.
Shouldn't be too difficult, right? :-3

The Christmas dog toy pic is the best. Maybe you can somehow (non photography person speaking now) mesh the dog toy over a wedding pic. Now that's wedded life.

As for my new design, I just yahooed blogger templates and found this one. It is just a free downloadable one. I do not possess the talent to design one myself. I could create one in inDesign but I could never do the web parts of it. I too struggle with the fact that I call myself "hotfromthefurnace" but I was so tired of my typewriter like background. It was a little too manly for me. I am not sure if this one is even going to stick for me, if I decided not to keep it, I will send you the codes.

Had you been wearing a green visor and had a yellow lead pencil over your ear in the close up with you in the glasses, that might give you some credibility as a reporter/blogger. Since you carelessly left those items out of the picture, I think you go dog toy.
